Stress Management

Stress management is a major requirement these days. More so than we like to think. It's one of those subjects that we do not like to talk about because it's something that applies to others, not ourselves.

Evidence from the last recession indicated that management burnout was a regular occurence, and because it was a new business phenomena it was not handled particularly well.

Thankfully, burnout is recognised these days and there are greater opportunities to deal with it. There is no stigma attached to burnout, it happens all too frequently.

Stress management and time management are inextricably linked. Bad time management, poor delegation skills, lack of boundaries and job descriptions all contribute to the circular relationship between stress, impaired performance and time pressures.

Some stress is good for you, it helps you focus and gives you that lift when you really need to deliver. Ask any footballer before a big game. If they don't feel that nervous apprehension, you can almost guarantee that their performance will be flat.

The secret with stress is to manage it for peak performance and with help, it is easier to achieve.
